Case Study: Brown-Forman strengthens water risk management with Waterplan

A Waterplan Case Study

Preview of the Brown-Forman Case Study

How Brown-Forman drives its water sustainability strategy through comprehensive water risk assessments in high-risk sites and water efficiency initiatives

Brown-Forman, the global spirits and wine company, needed a better way to manage water risk across its operations, especially in high-risk watersheds and at a site in Mexico facing increasing water scarcity. To support its water sustainability strategy and 2030 water balance goal, the company partnered with Waterplan and used its SaaS water risk platform to assess local risks, vulnerabilities, and water use across sites.

Waterplan helped Brown-Forman centralize water risk data, run risk screenings, model water-scarcity scenarios, and build a detailed site water balance to identify efficiency opportunities. The collaboration led to stronger decision-making, streamlined local data collection and analysis, and a business case for a post-treatment facility to enable internal water reuse, along with metering and audit improvements to reduce consumption and support future water stewardship actions.
