IKN GmbH, a middle-market engineering firm serving the global cement-plant construction industry, needed a reliable way to maintain and remotely service installations scattered worldwide as old modem dial-up connections became obsolete. The company also wanted a flexible, easy-to-manage security setup for headquarters that could provide strong defense in depth. To meet these needs, IKN turned to WatchGuard Fireboxes and VPN connectivity.

WatchGuard implemented secure VPN tunnels using T10 Fireboxes at customer sites, an M500 at headquarters, and additional WatchGuard appliances across offices and remote locations, all centrally managed with RapidDeploy and Dimension. The result was faster, more scalable remote support, stable low-latency VPN access, and a significant reduction in reliance on external IT service providers, saving time and costs while giving IKN greater independence and real-time visibility into network security.
