Stadt Burgwedel deploys 100+ Wi‑Fi access points with WatchGuard

The town of Burgwedel sought a manageable and secure WLAN solution to support new digital learning projects across its seven schools. Their challenge was to find a high-performance wireless infrastructure that was protected from the latest threats and could be easily administered by their existing IT team without additional staff. They partnered with WatchGuard Technologies to address these needs.

WatchGuard implemented a solution using over one hundred AP420 Wi-Fi access points and Firebox appliances for segmentation and protection. This provided extensive coverage and allowed for centralized management via WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud. The results included automated threat prevention through a Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) and the ability to segment the network into secure VLANs for different users and devices. The solution provided a future-proof, secure foundation for digital expansion and applications like VoIP, leading to potential further savings.
