Portsmouth Grammar School - Customer Case Study

Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS), a UK private day school, needed reliable campus-wide Wi‑Fi and stronger online protection for students, staff, and visitors. With thick former army barracks walls making coverage difficult and an older Aruba-based setup that was too complex to manage, PGS turned to WatchGuard for a simpler, more secure wireless solution using AP322 and AP325 access points and network security support.

WatchGuard implemented a cost-effective wireless network with AP322 and AP325 access points installed across the campus, connected to an M4600 security appliance running WatchGuard’s UTM suite, including WebBlocker, AV, IPS, spamBlocker, Application Control, and packet filtering. The result was secure, consistent connectivity throughout the school, enabling new technologies like Apple TV and supporting BYOD plans with greater confidence in security and access control.
