Waste Commission of Scott County - Customer Case Study

The Waste Commission of Scott County is an intergovernmental agency that operates the Scott Area Landfill, recycling center, household hazardous material facility and electronic demanufacturing center. As a long‑time WasteWORKS customer that recently migrated to WasteWORKS‑SQL, the commission needed to improve throughput for frequent commercial users and residents, shorten wait times, and reduce vehicle idling and safety risks at the facility.

To address this, they added a remote express lane, two WasteWIZARD automated systems and an automated keypad scale for frequent customers, and built a citizens’ convenience area with dedicated small‑load unloading and expanded drop‑off recycling and hazardous‑waste stations. The upgrades sped up unloading, shortened lines for other customers, improved safety by keeping small vehicles out of active landfill areas, and reduced vehicle idling and associated emissions.
