Roanoke Valley Resource Authority - Customer Case Study

Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (RVRA) is a regional public agency serving about 186,000 people in the Roanoke Valley that operates a unique, rail‑based waste disposal system handling roughly 600 tons a day via the Tinker Creek Transfer Station and the Smith Gap Tipper Building. Managing daily transfers, rotary‑dumper operations, recycling programs and regulatory compliance for a 1,200‑acre, 100‑year landfill created a need for efficient operational data management and timely reporting.

To address that need RVRA implemented the WasteWORKS system on July 1, 2008, enabling quick retrieval of daily and monthly data. The solution streamlined reporting, improved access to operational metrics, and supported ongoing management of recycling, household hazardous waste events and landfill operations.
