A WasteWORKS Case Study
Potrero Hills Landfill in Solano County, California, recently joined Waste Connections and serves as a regional disposal destination for seven Bay Area counties. The facility—permitted on 190 acres of a 1,400-acre site—handles more than 2,500 tons per day (peaking to 4,300), employs about 40 people, and is pursuing a major expansion that would add 35 years of capacity while preserving over 800 acres of habitat. After the acquisition, management needed to modernize scale operations and ticketing to improve throughput and customer service.
The site implemented WasteWORKS as its scale operating system (installation and training in May 2009; went live June 1), delivering easier data entry for staff and a more efficient ticketing experience for customers. The team reported immediate operational improvements and high satisfaction with Carolina Software’s support, and they plan to add WasteWIZARD remote automation to further shorten truck cycle times.
