New Hanover County Department of Environmental Management, a coastal North Carolina agency managing an advanced integrated solid waste system, needed to improve customer service and financial integrity at its landfill scale house by reducing weigh-in/weigh-out transaction times and minimizing ticketing errors. Working with long-time vendor Carolina Software, the county also sought better reporting and faster payment processing to support efficient operations.

The county redesigned its scale house and upgraded to WasteWORKS-SQL with integrated PowerPay credit card processing, plus other operational improvements like GPS on heavy equipment. The changes produced faster, more accurate transactions, fewer voided or reprinted tickets, improved reporting and Excel export capability, and a reduction in total daily transaction time of about 30–45 minutes.
