Case Study: Metro Waste Authority achieves faster, greener transfer operations with WasteWORKS WasteWIZARD

A WasteWORKS Case Study

Preview of the Metro Waste Authority Case Study

Metro Waste Authority - Customer Case Study

Metro Waste Authority, based in Des Moines, IA and serving 16 member communities, operates landfills, transfer stations, a compost facility and recycling and hazardous waste programs across the metro area. Rapid growth on the west and northwest side made routine landfill hauls up to 55 miles roundtrip impractical, creating a need for a nearby transfer station to reduce travel time, costs and community concerns about environmental impact.

Metro Waste built the new Metro Northwest Transfer Station in Grimes with three scale lanes equipped with WasteWIZARD automation (two kiosks per lane for right- and left‑side drivers), so weighmaster duties are handled by the system. The facility lets one semitrailer replace about 3.5 garbage trucks, cutting trips, emissions, traffic and vehicle wear while delivering faster, more efficient transactions and proactive public information about design and environmental safeguards.
