A WasteWORKS Case Study
Greenville County Solid Waste Division faced a pressing challenge: their longtime Enoree landfill was nearing capacity and could not expand, forcing the county to open a new, more distant facility while maintaining high service standards, meeting strict environmental and regulatory requirements, and overcoming public concerns about a new landfill in their community.
The county’s solution combined careful planning, community outreach, site design and technology. The new Twin Chimneys Landfill features large covered unloading areas, a single drop-off for garbage and recyclables, and automated scale-house technology (WasteWALKER mobile ticketing, WasteWIZARD express lanes and WasteWORKS Vision image capture), plus audio/video communication and pneumatic money tubes. The result was a smooth transition, faster customer processing, enhanced security, strong public buy-in and a modern, efficient facility with room for future growth.
