KB Home, a major homebuilder, needed help improving construction and demolition (C&D) waste handling as it worked to earn LEED for Homes Platinum certification for its GreenHouse™ Idea Home in Windermere, Florida. The company turned to Waste Management and its construction services to reduce landfill disposal and support a more efficient, sustainable building process without disrupting its tight production schedule.

Waste Management worked with KB Home early in planning to analyze materials use, streamline purchasing, and set up recycling containers for mixed C&D debris. Materials such as lumber, drywall, concrete, cardboard, and metals were then sorted at a nearby recycling facility, helping KB Home divert 88.7% of C&D waste, recycle 4.51 tons of material, earn three additional LEED credits, and achieve Platinum certification.
