Hardison/Downey Construction, Inc. needed a way to manage construction debris removal and recycling efficiently during its $42.1 million student housing project at The University of New Mexico while also supporting LEED® certification goals. Waste Management helped the team recycle materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, drywall, wood, concrete, and asphalt, while also educating workers to keep contamination out of recycling loads. By adding incentives and providing a single point of contact, Waste Management helped Hardison/Downey reach a recycling rate of 85% to 90%, improving site recycling culture and helping the project earn extra LEED credits.
