A Wasp Barcode Technologies Case Study
Racesource Inc., a family-owned custom manufacturer of nearly 100 racing vehicle parts (and supplier to monster truck teams like Grave Digger), outgrew its spreadsheet-based inventory process. Excel couldn’t track assemblies or reliably use UPCs, so the company frequently reordered or remanufactured parts it already had, costing time and money.
In January 2012 Racesource implemented Wasp Inventory Control v6, using barcode scanning and assembly tracking to label and number every item while leveraging existing UPCs. The system improved billing, manufacturing and reordering, produced immediate results, and cut about $8,000 in excess annual sourcing and roughly 52 hours a year spent tracking inventory.
