A Wasp Barcode Technologies Case Study
Maniilaq Association is a non-profit health and social services organization serving about 8,000 people across 12 federally recognized tribes in Northwest Alaska (1 hospital, 11 clinics) and employing roughly 550 staff. Their inventory process relied on handheld scanners that had to be collected daily and synced at the hospital—an hour and a half each day—while spotty internet and remote locations made access difficult. Central Stores Manager Charla Kouadio needed a centralized, remotely accessible system (including iPad support) to save time and support COVID-era remote work.
They implemented Wasp Barcode Technologies’ inventory solution, which was set up in half a day and included online Zoom training with a recorded session for onboarding. The system’s low-stock alerts are especially valuable given 15–20 day supply lead times and their location 33 miles outside the Arctic Circle. The new setup is intuitive for new hires and eliminated the daily 1.5-hour scanner syncs—saving about 7.5 hours per week (roughly 390 hours per year) while improving reorder visibility and remote access.
