Calvert County Public Schools - Customer Case Study

Calvert County Public Schools, a large Maryland district serving more than 15,900 students across 12 elementary, six middle and four high schools, launched a 1:1 leased laptop program but had no formal asset-management process. For a year staff tracked check-ins, check-outs and assignments in Excel, a time-consuming and error-prone approach that prompted the IT department to seek a better solution.

A computer technician recommended Wasp Barcode Technologies and the district implemented Wasp’s asset management system. Initially used for laptop tracking, the solution was quickly expanded to cover all IT equipment; over two years the district tracked 28,977 assets across 32 sites (24 schools) with 20 system users, reporting improved productivity and strong user satisfaction.
