A Wasp Barcode Technologies Case Study
Edward Waters University (EWU), Florida’s first private institution and historic HBCU founded in 1866 with about 1,200 full-time students, struggled with fragmented, manual asset management. Departments relied on spreadsheets and handwritten logs without barcodes or centralized visibility, causing duplicate purchases, inaccurate inventory, audit headaches and financial strain for an under-resourced institution.
EWU adopted AssetCloud — a cloud-based, scalable, affordable platform with barcoding and a mobile app — to centralize tracking, eliminate human error, enable check-in/check-out, and produce audit-ready reports. The solution now saves an estimated 15 staff hours per week and $5,000 annually, is used by five departments and 25+ users, and has improved visibility, accountability and compliance as campus inventory grows toward 10,000 assets.
