WEC Energy Group brings 128 MW online on schedule with Wärtsilä Energy

WEC Energy Group, a major US energy company, faced the challenge of building a new grid-balancing power plant quickly to meet rising energy demand and support intermittent renewables, all while navigating significant equipment delivery delays caused by global supply chain instability. They again partnered with Wärtsilä Energy to implement a solution using seven Wärtsilä 50SG natural gas engines.

Through close collaboration and persistent vendor surveillance, Wärtsilä Energy helped execute an expedited schedule. This resulted in the 128 MW Weston plant being delivered on time and on budget, enabling WEC Energy Group to reliably balance the grid and work towards its environmental goals.
