Revera Energy delivers 150 MW / 300 MWh storage with Wärtsilä Energy

The customer, Revera Energy, faced the challenge of maintaining system stability on South Australia's grid, which has world-leading levels of solar and wind penetration, requiring fast and flexible infrastructure to respond to rapid fluctuations. To address this, they partnered with vendor Wärtsilä Energy to implement a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) using their GridSolve™ Quantum High Energy technology and GEMS Power Plant Controller.

Wärtsilä Energy delivered a 150 MW / 300 MWh BESS that provides critical grid support services like frequency control and energy arbitrage. The solution strengthens grid flexibility, enhances energy security by balancing renewable generation, and accelerates the region's decarbonization. Notably, Wärtsilä completed its project scope ahead of schedule, reducing execution risk and efficiently meeting key milestones.
