Preview of the Qassim Cement Company Case Study

Qassim Cement Company ensures 52 MW power plant reliability with Wärtsilä

Qassim Cement Company, a Saudi Arabian cement manufacturer, needed an experienced contractor to operate and maintain its 52 MW power plant to ensure a reliable and efficient electricity supply for its factory. The company lacked the in-house skills for this task and sought a vendor to manage the plant's operations. They partnered with Wärtsilä Energy through an Operation & Maintenance (O&M) agreement.

Wärtsilä implemented a tailored O&M solution to guarantee the power plant's performance and availability. This long-term partnership, renewed multiple times since 2013, has provided over a decade of maximised availability and ensured reliability for the 52 MW plant. The results allowed Qassim Cement to focus entirely on its core cement manufacturing business, with the plant manager confirming that the Wärtsilä agreement adds significant value and provides a high return on investment.
