Nippon Koei Energy Europe B.V. deploys 25 MW / 100 MWh storage system with Wärtsilä Energy

Nippon Koei Energy Europe B.V. faced the challenge of helping facilitate the Belgian government's goal to phase out nuclear power while needing to maintain grid frequency, reliability, and regulate fluctuations. To address this, they partnered with vendor Wärtsilä Energy.

Wärtsilä Energy implemented its Quantum battery energy storage system and the GEMS Digital Energy Platform, supported by a long-term Service+ GAP maintenance solution. The results were a 25 MW / 100 MWh energy storage system that supplies peak power with stored renewable energy, improves grid reliability, and has led to improved revenues for the customer.
