Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission secures 600 MW of baseload power with Wärtsilä Energy

Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) faced the challenge of guaranteeing a sufficient and reliable electricity supply for the isolated Baja California Peninsula system, where summer demand surges significantly due to extreme heat. To meet this need for efficient, uninterrupted baseload power, CFE partnered with Wärtsilä Energy.

Wärtsilä Energy delivered a fast-track EPC solution, constructing two flexible baseload power plants with a combined output of 600 MW. Supported by a long-term service agreement, the solution provided CFE with the necessary system stability, high efficiency, and competitive consumer costs. The plants now supply critical 24/7 baseload energy during peak summer months.
