Preview of the Ma’aden Case Study

Ma’aden cuts LCOE by 25% with Wärtsilä Energy

Ma'aden, a Saudi state-owned mining company, needed a reliable and sustainable power generation solution for its Mansourah-Massarah gold project that would reduce fossil fuel use and emissions. Wärtsilä Energy provided engineering, equipment, and technical advisory services for a new power plant.

Wärtsilä implemented a 58 MW hybrid power plant featuring six of its 20V32TS engine generating sets. This solution enabled the integration of solar power, ensuring an uninterrupted energy supply while achieving over 97% plant reliability. The project resulted in more than 25% savings in the levelised cost of electricity compared to the original rental generation plan.
