Preview of the Enertrag AG Case Study

Enertrag AG stabilizes Germany’s grid with a 22 MW / 35 MWh system using Wärtsilä Energy

The customer, Enertrag AG, a German wind developer and operator, faced the challenge of providing frequency regulation and grid balancing services to the German grid. Partnering with vendor Wärtsilä Energy, they utilized the GEMS Digital Energy Platform to intelligently manage a 22 MW / 35 MWh energy storage facility.

Wärtsilä's GEMS platform provided the solution by integrating and optimizing multiple generation assets to deliver frequency control, energy arbitrage, and reactive power services. This allowed the project to participate in Germany’s PRL market from day one, generating revenue while ensuring grid reliability and stability by optimizing intermittent wind power.
