Electricidade De Timor Leste improves operator competence with Wärtsilä through 25+ training sessions

Electricidade De Timor Leste (EDTL), the national electricity company of Timor Leste, faced the challenge of ensuring its operators were sufficiently skilled to independently operate, troubleshoot, and maintain its three Wärtsilä power plants. To address this, EDTL partnered with vendor Wärtsilä Energy to utilize comprehensive training services from the Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy (WLSA).

The solution implemented by Wärtsilä was a long-term training program, which included over 25 high-quality sessions in its first five years. This rigorous training improved the competence of over 80 local operators, enabling them to safely and economically manage the plants independently. The program also reduced future operational costs for the state budget and resulted in several operators being promoted to supervisory positions.
