EDG deploys 130 MW power plant with Wärtsilä Energy

Matelec Group, an EPC contractor, needed a reliable partner to engineer a flexible power solution that would lower consumer electricity prices, ensure high availability and efficiency, and provide a strong return on investment for a major energy project in Senegal. They selected Wärtsilä Energy to provide a Flexicycle™ power plant to meet this challenge.

Wärtsilä implemented a 130 MW Flexicycle™ power plant featuring seven Wärtsilä 18V50 engines and backed by a 10-year maintenance agreement. This solution provided high-power availability to fulfill a 120 MW power purchase agreement, improved consumer access to electricity at a lower price, and offered operational flexibility for future renewable integration. The plant became operational in 2020.
