The customer, Energía del Caribe S.A. (EDG), faced the challenge of meeting tight deadlines for power purchase agreements to supply electricity to Guatemala, requiring a highly efficient and reliable baseload power plant under strict emission regulations.

Wärtsilä Energy provided an EPC solution, delivering a 140 MW Flexicycle power plant featuring seven natural gas engines. This solution from Wärtsilä ensured uninterrupted generation, allowing the plant to run 24 hours a day and successfully deliver 950 GWh of electricity per year to utilities in Guatemala.
