EDG achieves 95%+ plant availability with Wärtsilä Energy

The customer, ItalGreen Energy, part of the Casa Olearia Italiana Group, required a sustainable power generation solution for its vegetable oil refinery in Italy. Wärtsilä Energy provided an extension to the plant by supplying an additional Wärtsilä 18V32 generating set fired by biofuel.

Wärtsilä Energy delivered a full generating set package and was responsible for fuel testing, engineering, and supervision. The solution resulted in a 24 MW combined heat and power plant that achieves over 95% availability and operates 8,000 hours per year, producing renewable electricity for the national grid and steam for the factory process.
