Cooperative Energy adds 22.7 MW of flexible power with Wärtsilä Energy

Cooperative Energy, a not-for-profit electricity cooperative serving Mississippi, faced the challenge of integrating high levels of renewable energy while needing to supply affordable, flexible, and reliable power. They partnered with Wärtsilä Energy to upgrade a plant and mitigate financial risks in a hurricane-prone region.

Wärtsilä implemented a full EPC solution, delivering a 22.7 MW plant powered by two Wärtsilä 31SG engine generating sets and supported by a 10-year optimised maintenance agreement. The solution provided Cooperative Energy with resilient, fast-starting power to support its grid and 432,000 homes and businesses, enabling greater flexibility for renewable integration.
