Central Electricity Board of Mauritius reduces fuel oil consumption by 8g/kWh with Wärtsilä Energy

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) of Mauritius sought to reduce exhaust gas temperatures and improve the performance of the Wärtsilä 6L32 engine at its Pointe Monnier power plant. To address this challenge, they partnered with Wärtsilä Energy for a turbocharger upgrade.

Wärtsilä Energy implemented a solution by installing a new Napier 307L turbocharger and upgrading the associated software. This retrofit successfully lowered exhaust gas temperatures, improved engine output and efficiency, and resulted in an 8g/kWh reduction in fuel oil consumption, significantly reducing operating costs and emissions for the customer.
