Maroela Media, an Afrikaans media house with millions of monthly readers, identified a need to create a dedicated mobile app to better serve its audience. The challenge was to develop an app for the Google and Apple app stores that would provide push notifications, allow users to view articles from selected categories, submit news tips, and offer direct feedback. The solution was later upgraded using the Ionic Framework for better maintenance and faster updates. In 2022, Warp further modernized the app through a redesign that included navigational improvements, a dark mode, and a new search function. The results were significant, with the app achieving 65,000 monthly active users, 29 million monthly views, and an average engagement time of 2 hours and 12 minutes.
