NDID scales digital identity to 34 million accounts with walt.id

National Digital ID (NDID), Thailand's national identity verification platform, faced challenges with its reliance on paper-based documentation for processes like loan applications. This led to high fraud, operational friction, and data accuracy issues. NDID partnered with walt.id to build a user-centric digital identity platform using walt.id's open source Community Stack to overcome these hurdles.

walt.id provided the infrastructure for NDID to issue machine-readable digital credentials, which citizens store in secure wallets and share with verifiers like banks. This solution streamlined financial service access, reduced fraud, and cut manual processing. The initial roll-out, involving major banks and reaching over 20 million consumers, established a foundation for future expansion across various industries.
