A walt.id Case Study

Preview of the EBSILUX Case Study

How EBSILUX is using Self-Sovereign Identity to create interoperable and cross-border verifiable diplomas for the University of Luxemburg together with walt.id

EBSILUX, a project integrating Luxembourg into the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), needed an interoperable and cross-border solution for issuing digital student diplomas. The project team wanted to move away from a paper-based process prone to fraud and instead implement a user-centric, Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) solution to give students control over their credentials. They sought a compliant, open-source technology partner and selected walt.id for this task.

walt.id provided its open-source solutions, which were fully compliant with EBSI and EU standards, to help build the new system. The project consortium successfully created a high-level architecture and was developing its first MVP, with the goal of later integrating a mobile wallet for all diploma types. The EBSILUX team praised walt.id for being helpful, reactive, and experienced, noting that the partnership significantly scaled up their integration with EBSI compliant wallet requirements.
