The Carnegie Museum of Art Collects Hashtag Campaign Submissions and Displays Them on a Social Wall

The Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) sought to create a social media campaign for its "Strength in Numbers" exhibition that encouraged authentic, unfiltered photos from visitors. With a limited marketing budget, the museum needed an affordable and flexible content aggregation solution to power this campaign, which led them to the vendor Walls.io.

Walls.io provided a social wall that aggregated Instagram posts tagged with the campaign's #cmoarealday hashtag. This wall was embedded on the museum's website and displayed on an iPad within the gallery, directly engaging visitors. The campaign successfully collected photos that were later used as inspiration for songs by local musicians. Walls.io helped the CMOA increase awareness of the exhibition and work towards its goal of gathering over 5,000 image submissions.
