International Maritime Organization - Customer Case Study

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) faced the challenge of increasing gender diversity in the male-dominated maritime sector. A key part of this effort was to combat the lack of realistic imagery of women at work to help inspire the next generation. To create a public photo library, they partnered with the vendor Walls.io to implement a social media wall.

Using Walls.io, the IMO launched the #MaritimeWomenPhotoShare campaign to collect photos from women in the industry via social media and email. The social wall aggregated these submissions, creating an inspiring mosaic that was embedded on their website and displayed at events. The campaign was a success, generating hundreds of global submissions and resulting in a vibrant, public Flickr image library to promote a more inclusive portrait of the maritime world.
