METRO, a global wholesale company operating in 25 countries, wanted to bridge geographical distances and create a shared bond between its employees and independent business owner clients for its Own Business Day event. To support its client base, METRO needed to run a global, two-phase hashtag campaign that would first energize its own employees before engaging customers and the public.

Walls.io provided the social media aggregation tool used to collect posts across the campaign. The vendor's platform allowed METRO to deploy a global hashtag (#ownie) alongside country-specific ones, pulling content from various social networks into a single social media wall displayed on their intranet and public websites. The campaign was a resounding success, generating over 3,500 #ownie posts and engaging more than 19,500 business owners across 13 countries, creating a powerful, unified global campaign.
