The Community of Dunkirk chooses WALLIX Bastion to secure access of IT providers

The Urban Community of Dunkerque, a public authority of 21 municipalities with about 2,500 employees and a single shared IT department, needed to secure and supervise both internal and external privileged access—particularly connections from external service providers—and to rapidly enable secure remote work during the COVID‑19 lockdowns. To address these challenges the community had been using the WALLIX Bastion since 2008 to control provider access and protect sensitive municipal data.

WALLIX scaled its solution during the first lockdown by providing temporary licenses and Dunkerque subsequently acquired 400 Session Manager and 100 Access Manager licenses; the expanded WALLIX deployment immediately supported large numbers of remote connections, enforced approval workflows, delivered real‑time access visualization and session recording, and ensured continuity of public services. WALLIX’s Bastion and Access Manager thus strengthened oversight of third‑party activity, secured remote workstation access for staff, and provided measurable capacity increases (400 Session Manager + 100 Access Manager) to protect the community’s IT infrastructure.
