Mednet Protects Phi, Ensures Hipaa Compliance and Grows the Web Platform with Wallarm

MedNet Solutions, a long-established eClinical/EDC provider running the iMedNet platform, needed reliable Web Application Firewall (WAF) protection as it migrated iMedNet to AWS to meet customer demands and HIPAA PHI compliance requirements. MedNet selected Wallarm’s cloud-managed WAF (deployed via Wallarm Docker containers) to provide application-level security, meet regulatory needs, and supplement its team with specialized security expertise.

Wallarm implemented a Docker-based WAF deployed on MedNet’s infrastructure (with proxy nodes terminating SSL on MedNet servers), enabling near real-time monitoring, incident detection, and vulnerability scanning without requiring an additional BAA or third-party traffic routing. The Wallarm managed service integrated with MedNet’s AWS environment and Sumo Logic, scaled behind load balancers with no performance bottleneck in testing, and delivered measurable benefits: HIPAA/PHI compliance, lower compliance costs by avoiding extra BAA agreements, faster vulnerability remediation, and reduced need to build in-house WAF expertise.
