Waitwhile enables safe and seamless shopping for Best Buy Canada

Best Buy Canada faced the challenge of safely managing in‑store customers and curbside pickup across 169 locations during the peak of the COVID‑19 pandemic, with varying local rules around distancing and curfews. To meet this need the retailer turned to Waitwhile, using its Waitlist, SMS and Curbside Pickup tools to provide a scalable, contactless way for customers to notify stores when they arrived and to join virtual queues.

Waitwhile’s solution sent “ready for pickup” notifications with a check‑in button, offered a text‑to‑JOIN option at stores, and enabled a virtual waitlist so customers could shop or wait remotely. The rollout scaled nationally with minimal training, queued over 3 million customers, and “gave them over 140,000 days back,” while driving excellent customer and staff feedback and helping Best Buy Canada meet local guidelines.
