Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust partnered with Wagestream to tackle the challenge of filling last-minute shifts and improving support for colleagues. In the NHS, bank workers and internal staff often had less flexibility than agency staff, making it difficult to cover shifts quickly and consistently.
Using Wagestream’s Flexible Pay and related financial wellbeing tools, the Trust made it easier for staff to take additional work and get paid instantly for shifts worked. As a result, internal shift uptake improved, more staff were willing to cover short-notice shifts, and some workers returned from agencies to the Trust’s own staffing bank, strengthening shift coverage and supporting employees with faster access to earnings.
