Moving to the Cloud with AWS

Seeking Alpha, an online investment research and content publisher, needed a more flexible infrastructure than its managed hosting environment could provide. Annual server contracts made it difficult to experiment quickly, scale for unpredictable traffic spikes, and spend less time on maintenance. W-Systems helped guide the move to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support faster development and a more agile operating model.

W-Systems implemented a cloud solution for Seeking Alpha using AWS services including Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon EBS, and Amazon EFS, with Puppet for configuration management. The new environment improved cost efficiency by allowing on-demand scaling and Reserved Instances, and Seeking Alpha completed the migration in about six months with less redesign than expected. The result was a more stable platform with far less downtime and greater ability for the team to test, iterate, and deliver new business needs quickly.
