Southampton City Council doubles site submissions with VU.CITY’s 3D webmap

Southampton City Council faced a challenge engaging its local community in planning consultations, as traditional methods like PDFs and static maps were inaccessible. Partnering with VU.CITY and Konveio, the council sought to create a more transparent and intuitive digital engagement process using an interactive 3D webmap.

The solution from VU.CITY provided a 3D spatial foundation integrated with Konveio's engagement tools, allowing residents to explore proposals and leave location-specific feedback directly on the map. This resulted in a dramatic increase in public participation; site submissions for the 2025 Call for Sites consultation doubled to 50, with 25 coming from residents who had never engaged before, leading to faster processing and more evidence-based planning.
