Case Study: Shell Nigeria Deployment achieves remote doctor visits and improved healthcare access with VSee

A VSee Case Study

Preview of the Shell Nigeria Deployment Case Study

VSee Telemedicine Brings the Virtual Doctor Visit to Shell Nigeria

Shell Nigeria Deployment faced limited on-site medical capacity aboard two offshore FPSOs (Bonga and Sea Eagle) and at nearby hospitals, where clinics were staffed mainly by general medics and costly transfers to shore were the norm. VSee was brought in to provide telemedicine/telehealth capabilities — notably the VSee telemedicine kit and tele-consultation services — to connect patients and local clinicians with remote specialists.

VSee deployed portable medical devices (e-stethoscope, pulse oximeter, EKG, ultrasound), enabled real-time video consultations with U.S. specialists, and trained staff on-site (10 doctors at Shell IA Hospital and 8 clinicians at Obio Cottage Hospital). Results included a successful cardiology consult for a Sea Eagle crew member, a pediatric consultation that identified the need for an echocardiogram, faster specialist-driven clinical decisions, and reduced reliance on costly evacuations — demonstrating VSee’s measurable impact on access to care for Shell Nigeria Deployment.
