Intermountain NICU Gets Makeover with VSee Simple Telemedicine

Intermountain NICU needed a tele‑neonatal solution that would let remote specialists guide high‑risk care, give anxious parents reliable access, and support multi‑angle views of infants — limitations that legacy videoconference systems (Vidyo, Polycom, Cisco) couldn’t solve because they only send a single camera feed. To address this, Intermountain NICU chose VSee, using VSee Simple Telemedicine to enable a more flexible, clinical tele‑NICU workflow.

VSee implemented a setup of three HD webcams mounted on isolettes (plus a fourth for staff) connected to a Mac mini, allowing three simultaneous video streams so a remote neonatologist can direct resuscitations in seconds and avoid costly transfers. The VSee solution also provides 24/7 family access and secure auto‑receive for physicians; the renovation will power a 60‑bed NICU and be operational in 3–4 months, demonstrating clear operational and patient‑access improvements.
