Magellan maps the RMS Titanic at 3,800m with Voyis

The customer, Magellan Ltd, a leading deep-sea mapping company, faced the challenge of creating the first complete 3D digital model of the RMS Titanic wreck site, which lies 3,800 meters below the Atlantic Ocean. This required capturing extremely high-resolution and color-accurate imagery in a deep, dark, and challenging environment to build a seamless digital twin.

Voyis provided its Observer Survey Series Pro imaging system and Nova LEDs to Magellan, enabling the capture of over 700,000 high-dynamic range images that were automatically corrected for color and lighting to remove the typical blue and green hues of underwater photography. This precise visual data formed the foundation for Magellan’s comprehensive 3D model. Voyis also supplied an Insight Pro laser scanner to deliver quantitative measurements of the wreck, helping researchers understand the site's degradation. The result was the successful creation of the first complete and highly detailed digital twin of the Titanic.
