Yusen Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles was dealing with rising container volume, longer queue and turn times, limited on-site space, and outdated communication and tracking processes. To address these challenges, the terminal worked with Voyage Control to introduce an appointment system that could be used by all stakeholders through a single interface.
Voyage Control implemented its user-friendly appointment platform with on-site training and collaborative feedback from YTI and trucking stakeholders. The solution delivered measurable gains, including a 21% reduction in turn times, a 19-minute average turn time decrease, 8% year-over-year truck volume growth, and 1,700 days of truck idling time saved, along with improved terminal rank and lower emissions from reduced truck idling.
