Case Study: MaineHealth builds career pathways and improves workplace communication with Voxy

MaineHealth - Customer Case Study

MaineHealth, the largest healthcare provider serving Maine and Northern New Hampshire, faced growing talent shortages amid an aging population and a rising need for healthcare services. With a growing immigrant workforce and many employees arriving with limited English proficiency, the organization needed a way to improve communication, retention, and career development. MaineHealth partnered with Voxy on the iEnglish Project to help address these workforce challenges.

Using Voxy’s platform and the Voxy Proficiency Assessment (VPA), MaineHealth and the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center created a program to strengthen workplace English skills for immigrant and refugee hospital staff. The result was improved confidence, better understanding of workplace communication, and stronger healthcare vocabulary among participants, while supervisors reported noticeably higher engagement and conversation. Voxy helped MaineHealth build a clearer internal career pathway and support long-term employee retention and promotion.
