Case Study: METU advances inflammatory bowel disease research with Voxel51’s FiftyOne

METU uses FiftyOne for cutting-edge deep learning and computer vision research

The Deep Learning and Computer Vision group at METU was challenged by the high variability in doctor assessments during the diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease. They sought to provide real-time, objective feedback to doctors by developing deep learning models for medical imaging. To support this research, METU turned to Voxel51 and its FiftyOne platform.

Voxel51's FiftyOne solution was integrated at multiple research stages. METU used its CVAT integration to manage doctor annotations, compared model predictions to those annotations, and employed FiftyOne Brain's tools to visualize data distributions and identify unique synthetic images. This use of Voxel51's technology provided researchers with a deeper understanding of their data and aided in the development of their models, with plans to expand into video analysis.
