IGeFE, an institute for financial management in Portugal's education sector, sought to bring more agility, efficiency, and transparency to the procurement of goods and services for the public education network. Their challenge was to modernize and automate purchasing processes across hundreds of schools to ensure better competition and financial management. To address this, they chose to implement the VORTAL platform.

The solution from VORTAL provided a single purchasing repository that centralized and automated procedures for 811 primary and secondary schools. Via training and dedicated support, over 95% of the schools adopted the platform, leading to the publication of over 14,000 procedures. The measurable impact included significant cost reductions, increased supplier competition, and enhanced process credibility. VORTAL's implementation was so successful that IGeFE was presented as a success case and received an award for its visionary procurement project.
