A Vormittag Associates Case Study
Dorcy International, a Columbus-based global distributor of flashlights and batteries, faced fragmented, homegrown systems across three warehouses that lacked a true WMS, produced large inventory variances (roughly $170–200K), slow batch updates, manual logs, costly pre-printed forms and frequent EDI compliance issues. To modernize operations Dorcy selected VAI and its S2K ERP/WMS modules (with a partner EDI integrator) to provide integrated financials, real-time inventory and warehouse management.
VAI implemented S2K financial, warehousing, purchasing and inventory modules, integrated the EDI solution, designed bin locations, applied barcode labels and deployed RF scanners while revamping workflows; shipments began completing by 3 p.m. Real-time tracking and cycle counting cut variance from $170,000 to under $5,000 in one year, accounting staff time dropped by over 50%, customer onboarding time was halved with nearly 100% EDI compliance, printing costs fell by about $20,000 annually, and Dorcy can now grow without adding staff—demonstrating clear, measurable impact from VAI.
