Dorcy International - Customer Case Study

Dorcy International, a Columbus, Ohio–based global distributor of flashlights and batteries, faced outdated 25-year-old homegrown software, non-integrated systems across three warehouses, no real-time inventory visibility, frequent shipment delays and EDI compliance problems. To modernize operations and address inventory, financial reporting and EDI requirements, Dorcy selected VAI and implemented VAI’s S2K Enterprise Software (financial, warehousing, purchasing and inventory modules) alongside an EXTOL EDI integrator and an IBM System i5 upgrade.

VAI worked with Dorcy to redesign warehouse operations—implementing bin locations, barcode labels, RF scanners and S2K-driven processes—while integrating EDI and financials. The result: real-time inventory and cycle counting reduced inventory variance from about $170,000 to under $5,000 in one year, accounting staff time savings of over 50%, faster customer onboarding (half the time) and roughly $20,000 annual printing savings, demonstrating measurable supply‑chain and cost improvements driven by VAI.
